When we relocated to our new Edmonton Headquarters, our long-term vision included an efficiency target that would allow us to streamline the business to be able to serve all our Alberta customers from our newer, all-under-one-roof, larger headquarters building in Edmonton. With that efficiency target met, we made the decision to permanently close our Calgary facility in line with the start of our Fiscal 25 year.
To construct the highest-quality industrial work trucks through hard work, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuously improve our products and services.
from light duty to medium duty to heavy duty work trucks for a wide variety of industries and purposes
Just like the name says, this is the simplest type of work truck we can build for you. A flat deck installed on your chassis that can be used for hauling or transporting any goods that you need to move or take to the work site.
The next level up from the basic flat deck. An articulating crane is mounted to your chassis allowing you to pick up and drop off anything that you need to carry on your deck. Many different customizations of this package have been created over the years, most include some storage cabinets to carry tools and crane rigging.
This is the Mobile Welder’s “Office”, and no two welders are alike…so each one we build is custom. Everything a mobile welder needs to do their job is included in these custom rig-ups.
Quick response fire fighting vehicles designed specifically for getting to a brush fire before it can get out of control. Includes on board water tanks and pumps to get to a flare up before it becomes something more.
For certified crane operators and big loads, these are heavy duty decks with large articulating cranes that can carry a heavy load and deliver it exactly where it needs to be at the work site.
You could call this the service body starter pack. Perfect for a contractor that is figuring out that they need more than just a few tools thrown into the back of their pick-up to do their job properly. The Topper is just that, it sits on top of the box of your pickup and provides convenient tool storage on both side to keep you organized and ready to get to work when you arrive at the job site.
Like a topper, these can be customized into a variety of configurations specific to your needs. Designed to be quickly swapped from one truck to another.
The next level up from a Topper. An insert is a fully enclosed body that fits into your pickup. Can be customized with shelves and drawers in the side access bins and works best with a roll-out cargo system on the floor to save the operator from climbing in and out of the body all day. Designed to fit inside the pickup’s existing tailgate to add an extra layer of security for your cargo and to take advantage of all the options truck manufacturers include in their tailgates.
For operators who can still get away with a “lighter” load of tools at the work site…or those who just aren’t ready to commit to that class 5 cab and chassis investment, a Pickup Delete Body is just what it sounds like. We remove the box from your pickup and replace it with a small service body. Typically 102” in length it’s the next step in the contractor’s evolution before they decide they need every tool from their shop with them at the work site. It is a massive upgrade from the topper and insert world, fully customized tool storage and cargo areas that allow the operator to take almost everything with them.
A Contractor’s body is the next step up in the evolution of the bodies we build at General. You have finally decided you need to take every tool with you from your shop to the worksite and you need to haul some materials along as well. The operator has finally graduated to a class 4 or 5 heavy duty cab and chassis because they need to bring more with them to the job site and a pickup can no longer do the job. These packages are usually 110” or 134” long and can be customized to keep every tool in the exact right spot.
These are truly the “do-everything” body that has everything an operator needs to do their job remotely. Fully customized storage with all the equipment you would need to do mobile repairs. Typically includes a crane, air compressor, generator, inverters, welders and oil evac systems…just tell us what you need at the job site and we will figure out how to get it there for you.
Just like the regular mechanic’s body, but with a larger chassis and a larger crane. Designed for the mechanic that never wants to have to go back to the shop because they couldn’t fit something onto their truck.
The quick response work horse of the utility world. These trucks are typically equipped with a manlift with an up to 35-40’ reach that can get to the trouble quickly and get the problem resolved.
The intermediate sized aerial body. A little bigger chassis, a little more reach for the aerial device. These medium duty lift trucks are typically designed for a 3-4 man crew to get out and get things working again when the problems are a little more serious.
These are the big boys of the utility world. Heavy Duty chassis with a 50’ or longer reach on the aerial device. Typically designed for a 4-man crew with a double man bucket.
If the name sounds a bit generic, you are not wrong. The easiest way to describe this category is: If you need a mobile work shop, mobile office, mobile laboratory…mobile anything…even if it is not for the oilfield…it falls into this “Custom Oilfield Category” at General. Tell us what you need to do on wheels, we’ll figure out a way to make it.
Affectionately referred to as “mini-lubes” by the guys in the shop. We build you a miniaturized version of our full-sized lube van. Perfect for when you only need a few different oils or fluids to do your on-site servicing and are only servicing a few units at a time during a site visit. Customized to your specific needs and designed to fit on a class 5 chassis.
A full-service lubrication shop on wheels! These mobile lube shops are customized to your needs and can carry up to 10-different fluids to site to allow you to service a variety of different types of equipment on-site and get them back to work as soon as possible. These rigs can carry all your required oils, greases, and fluids, complete with pumps and dispensing equipment so that you can pull up to whatever equipment you need to service onsite and get the preventative maintenance done without pulling it back to your shop.
Would you like fuel with that? The Fuel-Lube combo provides an extra level of service to the Lube van by sending your mobile Lube shop to site with some fuel to top up the equipment while the PM work gets completed. How much fuel do you think you’ll need? Small or large tank options are available.
If you require a truck that can travel on-rail and do a variety of different maintenance or servicing tasks while on the tracks, we have probably built the unit you are looking for at some point in our history. Tell us what you need and we can rig it up for you.
Just like the medium duty railway units, we have built just about every type of Heavy Duty construction, maintenance and vegetation control heavy duty rail units that have travelled on rail. What kind of work do you need to get done on rail? Let us know and we can design and build what you are looking for.
Wireline units are designed for downhole well interventions and can either be referred to as a “Slickline” with a solid (non-electrical) cable for mechanical well interventions (retrieving tools/setting plugs) or an “E-line” unit that typically involves an electrical line that is used for logging and formation evaluation.
A Mast unit is also used for downhole well interventions and uses a mast to provide lifting functionality to lift and run pressure control equipment and tools for slickline, wireline or coiled tubing operations.
Again, a generic name for an unlimited range of possibilities. General has built trailers that act as control centers, mobile laboratories, mobile workshops, and mobile testing facilities. If you need to take your work on the road and want it in a trailer, let us know what you have in mind, and we can make that happen.
